Having gone to a private school my whole life, copyright was always a huge deal. We were always having assemblies in school teaching use about plagiarism. We were told how and how not to write papers, and what is and is not allowed. If I ever become a teacher I want to teach students to be creative and unique. They should be taught not to copy from others unless using citations in their papers. It is crucial to teach students from a young age about copyright, plagiarism, and fair use of the materials provided for them.
Academic honestly is an issue that occurs throughout many schools around the world. Students either don't feel smart enough or they are too lazy so they wind up cheating. This is a common form of academic dishonesty. A solution to helping kids who cheat because they are scared to ask for help would be to know your students individually. If one of your students seems to be doing slower in the class, he or she might need extra attention. Cyberbullying is also a huge issue in a lot of schools. In todays society we have technology that can be used for the greater good but sometimes in the hands of developing teens, things can get out of hand. As a teacher I would have a conversation with my students about what is means to be respectful to your peers and classmates and explain the consequences that come from cyberbullying. Lastly, the digital divide is an important issue that can be looked over in a lot of schools. some children don't have the same access to technology as others do. Again to help this issue I would make sure to know my students and their parents and be aware of any accommodations that might need to be made for certain students.
