Blog 3

I found great interest reading through the ELA standards. I have always been intrigued by the english language and have though about teaching it. The standards that stood out to me in the language section was. Distinguishing the difference between multiple meaning words. An example of this would be the word "mean". You could use it in two sentences meaning completely different things such as: "He is being mean to me" or "What does this word mean". The idea multiple meaning words has always interest me and I think I would love to teach younger kids or students learning english this standard. A standard that requires more learning on my part would be understanding figurative language and metaphors. This is something I always struggled in school with and would be a standard I need to do more research about.

I always believed that students learn best when the have a visual representation. This keep the students interested in the subject and on focus. When exploring the CPALMS Educator Toolkit. I found so many interesting resources. For example, one that I really liked was for 3rd grade science. It was a virtual video about solids liquids and gases. There were videos and virtual explantations of the lesson. I would definitely use this resource in my classroom. Having these options for the students makes learning fun for them and makes them eager to come to class and have a fun way of learning.

When creating my newsletter I learned how to do some things I wasn't even aware of. One of the things I never knew how to do was to insert a hyperlink into my newsletter. I also had fun using the different border options on the newsletter. Something I could have improved on was taking more time and putting more thought into my newsletter and making it more personal. I chose a template from word when I could have started from scratch and really learned how to use the program to its fullest potential. I am very good at learning technology and I cant wait for more opportunities to be creative and learn more techniques.
